Ahoj! (Said ahoy) From Czesky!

So here I am, in the middle of a foreign country and all of the people my age are party animals. Awesome. Okay, I'm a huge fan of going out to celebrate things, and even getting really wasted is alright from time to time. But every night isn't exactly why I'm here.

So we have spring break in a couple weeks, and my close friend here with me is supposed to be making plans with me. We had this list of places, we've been looking stuff up. But now she has decided she wants to go exactly where the party girls go. So I'm left on my ass to travel alone or I have to go follow them to the places THEY wanted to go to. Well I may never get to come to Europe again. I'm sure as hell not changing my dream vacation because other people want to hit up bars!

Well I happened to get sat next to this wonderful girl on the plane. I really couldn't have been paired up better. At first I was disappointed that I didn't get to sit next to my friend, but this girl is me but older and more adorable. She isn't a huge partier and she is very interested in the same places I am! SUCCESS!

So I think I have new plans for spring break. So much for old reliable friends, eh?

Harry Potter book is at home, so it's waiting for me to come back.

First week in Europe!

So... I've been here for about 2 days now. We left Nebraska on Sunday morning and arrived in Olomouc on Monday afternoon. I had my first beer Monday night with dinner! Something tall and lemony. Still not sure how you say it. My friend and I split a pizza and got everything for 61 czech crowns apiece! That's like 3 or 4 bucks. HELLO CHEAP DINNER! Today (Tuesday) we got shown around the city and had some orientation sessions. B and I came back to the dormitory for lunch to get some things done, seemed like a really good choice! However, we apparently hadn't been paying attention that morning on the tram ride because we had no idea what stop to get off on when we were trying to get back to the university campus that afternoon! Our dorms are across town from the actual campus. We ended up panicking and getting off one stop early and walking a little extra, not too big of a deal! We also found the store Globus and we bought some awesome stuff. Like smelly (like sea breeze) Toilet paper! I'll take a picture! We went to McDonald's for dinner! Chicken McNuggets and french fries are just as delicious in the Czech Republic! I did a "Point and Gesture" order job at lunch today. True universal language -- pointing. That's got to be all for now happy readers!

Work and Baseball

Okay first off - my first two days of work went really well. I don't exactly LOVE it, but it's new and strange. Also, because it's in a whole different town 20 miles from where I live/grew up, I don't have much to talk about with everyone. They all have these little inside joke things and they talk about mutual friends and people in the community that they know and I just smile and have nothing to add. Pretty awkward working environment. There is nowhere to be alone there! I'm always in these awkward, uncomfortable situations. For the whole shift! Or I feel like I should be doing something. By the way I don't know where the bathroom is, so thank GOD I don't have an overactive bladder or something. I'm just going to not use it. Cross your fingers for me.

In all of the "new job" excitement I forgot that it was the beginning of Baseball season! Husker Baseball! It started yesterday. In Fresno against Fresno State if I remember right. Huskers lost 7-5. Not an exciting way to start the season, but we still have today and Sunday to make up for it! Go 'skers! BASEBALL!!!

I think that's it for today. I think I'm listening to the Twilight Soundtrack right now. Weird.

Fantasic break

I got a job! I got hired! At a grocery store, which personally I think is a step up from a convenience store. Am I right?

I just downloaded and watched the whole first season of Glee. I love it! I had watched a few of the episodes before, and felt the need to finish it.

I have to make this really short because it's already 1:30am and I have to be up very early for my first day! Just wanted to slip in a quick update! I'm so excited! :)

It just keeps getting better

So I found out last night that the rumors about why I lost my job are WAY more insane than I expected. I live in a tiny town so gossip is not something new to me. I know how it works. I expected the news of my dismissal to be around town within the day. Well not only do a ton of people know that I got fired, but they also have been hearing stories that include information such as, "They were practicing their stripper moves on the mop..." and, "They went into the bathroom together and took topless pictures!" Great, just great. I did NEITHER of these things. The whole time we were just playing around, it was NOT a strip joint.

In other news, I have an interview tomorrow! Which is really exciting! I might get some more money. I also am helping my mom both at home and in her office. I'm babysitting today in fact. It's not so bad, I kinda like it.

I also got to spend the night with the friend who is going on the trip with me! We haven't really gotten to hang out much. We had a sleepover (no stripping or topless photos included). It was wonderful. We looked up all kinds of information, giggled, looked through travel books and stayed up simply talking until about 5am. Old friends are awesome.

Do you play any of the really dumb Facebook applications? Well I used to think they were awesome. I played a ton of them. Cafe World, Fish World, Farm Town, YoVille and a couple others I can't remember. I recently deleted them because I decided I was a grown up. Well my friends made me check out this new one called Treasure Madness. I really is madness! I'm hooked and ashamed to admit it.

Hit the pavement.

So I got fired from my job. I think I told this story in my last post. So today I went and picked up applications from every business I could find (well, almost). I hit up like 7 places. 6 of these businesses are 20 miles from my home though. So I'm hoping that the bar I left my name at will give me a call! I'm 20, I can bartend!

I gave my brother Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone yesterday. He turns 11 this month. So I'm pretty sure if he REALLY reads it that it will bring all kinds of magic into his life. I can remember wishing my letter would come! Speak of the devil he just got home from school.

That's about all the news I have. I need a good suggestion for books to read next month on my trip! Awesome novels!?

Unintelligent rubbish.

I should be doing research. I should be cleaning my room. I should be checking on the laundry in the washer to see if it's done. I should be taking a shower. My friend May* should be texting me back right now.

These are all the things I wish were happening, but I'm lazy.

I bought a new camera yesterday! A Canon SX 120 IS. It's awesome so far! I need to test it out a little more but I'm in love! Yesterday I also had an orientation meeting thing for my semester abroad trip. My close friend Natalie* is going with me. (Side note: May just sent me a text!) I'm so excited about this trip, and so terrified! I can't even put into words the mixture of feelings I have going on. I took a trip to China once, so going to a new country isn't really the scary part. I think it's the fact that I've never been away from my family for that long. I went to China with my Grandparents! This is two and a half months and miles and miles away! I know I'll have fun, and the fact that I'm not an idiot assures me that I'll be fine. And Natalie is a very very intelligent person as well. AH!!! It's just... Oh my gosh. I have so much to get ready!

Another thing adding to the stress of my trip right now is the fact that I might get fired from my job on Monday. Let me explain. I really try to be an exceptional employee at any job that I have and I think I do a very good job. Right now while I'm at home I'm working at my high school job, a convenience store. Well the girl that I was working with a few nights ago decided it would be an awesome idea to take pictures of us doing funny things. Most of them were hilarious and yes we were screwing around but we only wasted a tiny bit of time! Well she posted them to facebook and our manager saw! Whoops. She was very upset and took both of us off of the schedule until Monday when she will make her final decision on whether we have a job or not. Everyone always says "Don't post stupid things online" Well... they're not kidding. This wasn't even that bad. But I was at work, in my work shirt. So be careful world!

Update: May doesn't feel well, so I either have to find a new friend, or go to the movie alone. Life really blows sometimes. I really wanted to see Dear John.

Now that I'm awesomely happy I think I'll go check on the laundry.

*Obviously not their real names :(
